Marapets.com have recently bought a sponsor slot to advertise their free Flash games. They have a large range of games covering all genres, and they release two new games every week.
This is the second ad slot I’ve sold through Text Link Ads, although the one bought by CompUSA didn’t last particularly long.
If you’d like […]

Sodaware::Blog - New Sponsor
CompUSA bought a sponsoring slot to advertise HP Notebooks. There’s some pretty nice looking laptops, and looking at the specs makes me wonder how long I can keep going with my 900mhz Celeron laptop…
This is the first ad slot I’ve sold through Text Link Ads since I signed up in July, so I’m quite […]
Games That Inspired Me
I’m guessing that most people didn’t decide to write games because of the money or the glamorous lifestyle. Whilst I can’t attribute my interest in game development to any particular event, there are certain games that stand out in my mind when I think of what gave me the inspiration to develop games.
Sonic
It’s only […]
New Resource - Blitz.ZipApi
What is Blitz.ZipApi?
Blitz.ZipApi is a userlib and set of helper functions for BlitzPlus and Blitz3D that allow you to use ZIP functionality, such as compression and decompression of data. The helper functions take care of the most common operations, such as adding data (either from a file or a bank) to an archive or extracting a […]
My Latest Design
It’s a none software development related post today. Hurrah!
Over the weekend, I created a new template for my brother’s blog, “The Collected Writings of James Newton“. I’m rather pleased with how it turned out, especially considering the fact that I’m not much of a designer.
It wasn’t exactly how I’d imagined it, but I think I […]
More Development Fun
The past week has been quite paradoxical. On one hand, I seem to have done more than ever before. I’ve been getting up at 6:30 and really knuckling down to get some work done. On the other hand, I seem to have worked on everything else except my game. It’s not even playable at […]
My Super-Happy Development Setup
As I’ve previously mentioned, software development is divided into two very distinct parts. The fun part that everyone loves, and the tedious bits that suck away your energy.
You can think of it like an iceberg. There’s the top that everyone sees, where penguins frolic and hold parties. Then there’s the sub-surface part. A dark and dreary […]
Games I Designed as a Kid
There’s an interesting discussion going on at the IndieGamer.com forums about games we designed as kids. I still have the notebook I used to design games in, and although their scope far outweighed my ability, it’s fun to look at them to see how things have changed.
Some of the designs were detailed, spanning pages of […]
What’s going down…
As many of you will know, hot weather and software development do not go together. The last few weeks have seen temperatures in Britain hit the high 90s, which wouldn’t be so bad if I had air conditioning. Suffice to say, my productivity hasn’t been as high as I’d like it. Still, at least I […]
A New Look, And a New Direction
A new direction for the blog, and a look at what topics will be covered in the coming months.
Main site now available
The main Sodaware site went live earlier today. At the moment there are only three book reviews, but I intend to add more content over the coming months. I’ll also be writing more about what software is being developed, and how.
I look forward to sharing my experiences with you all!
Quick update
In case anyone’s wondering why it’s been a little quiet here, it’s because I’m currently on holiday in sunny Florida. A lot of interesting things have happened in the last few weeks, including the release of plenty of screenshots of the new Office 2007 user interface, which has certainly attracted a lot of feedback. […]
First. Post. Ever.
I promise I won’t always use such lame titles.
I aim for the majority of content on this blog to be centered around a few core topics: updates on what’s being developed at Sodaware, what has been learnt from development and anything else I think will be useful to the readers. There may also be […]
